The farmstead – phase 1

CATEGORY: PROJECT MANAGEMENT, RESIDENTIAL

LOCATION: CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE

Engineering that Encourages Interaction and Community

Is it possible to design and construct a walkable, quiet and appealing neighborhood adjacent to one of Chattanooga’s busiest roads?

Yes, it’s not only possible, but a reality. Life at The Farmstead, a 240-home community in Hixson, proves that intentional design can triumph over high-traffic, high-noise challenges, as engineers designed a modern, inviting and easily livable neighborhood just steps from Hixson Pike.

Beginning with earthworks and landscaping, a team of engineers created a series of green barriers to quiet and dampen the sights and sounds of nearly 20,000 daily cars on Hixson Pike. Then, utilizing intentional and innovative design, engineers built a neighborhood that encourages community.

Homes open out onto lamp-lit sidewalks, shared park space and woodlands. Front porches abound. Garages are located behind homes, not in the forefront, and wide streets and a community plaza beckon residents towards interaction, not isolation.

As full completion nears, our team continues to build, advise and design The Farmstead, which promises long-term economic growth and value for an expanding Hixson community.
